As The Place celebrates its 40th birthday, they've created whatdancecando.com for people to share stories and ideas about dance from the past 40 years.
I guess it's meant for a slightly different generation, you know for them to reminisce the good ol' times and stuff, but anyway it's quite fascinating to just observe them do this.
You think about what the previous generations have been through, the togetherness, and what you've missed. The whole beginning. We've missed the beginning!
Only a few things have been shared on the site so far, but perhaps it could become the place where the early days of contemporary dance are relived - by people who never lived them. It's like certain memories you have only because you were told them. It's like... dance memoirs recycled. That's what dance can do.

Doesn't it make you sad. For so many people its synonymous with excitement and experiment. It is hardly like that now. If all the PR around the 40 year anniversary is to be believed, its something the institute clearly values, it's odd that a school can be so uninterested in that spirit.
