I love Fresheners
I flippin love air fresheners. If they come chemical free and in the form of Live Art performances that is. Lucky for me the Fresh AiR Platform, which took place last Saturday at Queen Mary, University of London, was full of this sort of air fresheners. Each their own scent, some of them I had never even smelled before - like for example Altered States by Lewis Church, Hairy Mary by Sarah Ruff & Ed Currie, or Ophelia is Not Dead by Gillie Kleiman - which turned out to be, as you can almost tell from the titles, fascinating scents!
The whole evening in fact provided a rather continuous flow of fresh unpolluted air. A few of them stayed site-specifically in the air for as long as three hours, while others were pumped into the studios every half hour. Most of them really intrigued my senses but of course not all fresheners were equally well-developed or delivered, and occasionally I lost interest and called a personal time-out. But this was only until fresh particles once again were released into the air.
Look out for The AiR Project, as there will be more platforms and opportunities coming up. And it really is a great initiative.
