Merce on the Screen
Reconnect with Merce Cunningham - for 1 hour and 48 minutes. Artist Tacita Dean exhibits her new work (Cunningham's last film collaboration) Tacita Dean: Craneway Event at Frith Street Gallery, a film about Merce Cunningham and his dance company rehearsing for an event in a former Ford Assembly Plant in California. The film will be screening Tuesday - Saturday from May 13th to June 23rd.
Craneway Event is a film about Merce working on something with his dancers over three afternoons on site, as they have done on countless occasions before, but it is also the document of a celebrated practice, and of a legendary man at work, and now a moment lost in time.
