Squat for a Night
Okay, here's a cool event:
Hosted by ArtEvict, tonight May 22 Live Artists are squatting in the house on 195 Mare Street, E8 - performances from 6:00pm - 11:00pm. Entry is free, there will be a bar (profits will go to charity), and you can also bring your own booze.
ArtEvict is a monthly live art night hosted in disused buildings and squats around London to highlight the necessary creative use of empty spaces. This month we are north of the river in one of the last remaining 18th Century villas in Hackney, now used as an autonomous community art centre after having falling into disrepair. Since its conception in November last year, ArtEvict has established itself as an open platform for artists to show new work in live art. On a zero budget, ArtEvict is about showing that great things can happen with very little resources.
