Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu's new music video Window Seat has made my head incredibly itchy (head lice?). I can't make up my mind whether it's a pathetic publicity stunt (Madonna/Britney kissy kiss) or some sort of sociological comment. Conducted R&B style. No, I didn't think so either.

If you listen to the lyrics of the single, it's not exactly the most enlightening, mind-blowing cultural poetry that will be forever remembered as some high point of our civilisation. As a matter of fact, it seems rather oblivious - I should stress that it's presumably trying not to be. And self-absorbed. I mean, New Amerykah (that's what she's named her latest albums, Part Two is where this song features) - she might as well be saying: I'm God. It's bullshit though. Although, if you believe in God, she's a fine looking lady. But now she's dead. Butt naked.

See the video, and let me know if it isn't a bit too pretentylicious, because I think it is. By the way, the video is basically an indirect reference to the death of JFK. How could I forget. This is what's so controversial (or dull) about it. She looks beautiful though. And I do appreciate the way it's produced in a raw and, dare I say, "natural" way.
